LOCAL HISTORY

Dr. Dawson Begins Practice In Shannon

Brighton's Warp and Welt Magazine - July 28, 1941

Comes Here From Aiken, South Carolina

Dr. H. E. Dawson, formerly of Aiken, South Carolina has arrived in Shannon.  Dr. Dawson will continue his practice of medicine here, filling a vacancy that has existed for the past several months.  Southern Brighton is indeed fortunate in securing the services of Dr. Dawson for the people of Shannon and the surrounding community.

It is expected that, in the formulation of a health program for Shannon, Dr. Dawson will give proper emphasis to the prevention of diseases, in addition to efficient care in effecting cures.  A program of this type will lessen illness and will, therefore, greatly decrease the amount of time lost from work due to illness.

Dr. Dawson is well qualified, by both training and experience, to render excellent service in his practice of medicine here.  He is a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Medicine and served his internship at the Columbia Hospital, Columbia, South Carolina.  For the past two years Dr. Dawson has served as resident physician in the Akin County Hospital, Aiken, South Carolina.  While in Aiken Hospital, Dr. Dawson did a great deal of surgical work.

In 1940 Dr. Dawson was married to the former Miss Ethelyn Winn Moseley of Camden, South Carolina.  In addition to his professional duties, Dr. Dawson and his wife will be valued additions to the social life of the community.
